How we started…

In the Beginning…

Was the Word.

Ps 126:1-3

1 When the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion,

We were like those who dream.

2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter,

And our tongue with singing.

Then they said among the nations,

“The Lord has done great things for them.”

3 The Lord has done great things for us,

And we are glad.

And we are glad!

We started with tears in our eyes, wanting to skip the pangs of captivity until we found our mouths filled with laughter.

We were like a thousand tongues singing, waiting for the day when the Lord would launch us into the deep.

Sundays in L. Wood St., inside our bedroom, were glorious days of visitations and gatherings of the first congregation. A congregation of two. (Pastor Ovet and Sis. Cynthia) It was a story worth telling, an omer of manna for the next generation to see.

One bright morning, January 12, 1997, the first worship service was held in a Townhouse owned by the Pimentels in Palmera 2E in Taytay, Rizal. The birthing of Jesus Our Good Shepherd Christian Ministries (JOGSCM)…

And we are glad!

Prayers and Intercession weaved the tapestry of His mantle, while worship celebrations always felt like a Feast of His Presence. We broke bread, and worshipped, and prayed, Word came alive and shared from one household to another.

It was like fire hitting the oil, we were all revved up for the Lord’s next, and the Lord’s next. A year later, we needed to transfer to a bigger venue to accommodate our growing number. The Pantanillas housed the worship services. And like the Tent of Meeting in the Old Testament days, we enjoyed following the Pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night. We moved to Golden City Clubhouse where we grew wings on our backs, moved in signs and wonders while people were being added to us weekly. But then the Kohatithes once again moved the Tent and settled in the furniture shop owned by the Olivas. There we started dreaming with the Lord, and in one Dawn Watch prayer meeting, the Lord led us to a place, described in a vision perfectly and accurately well. A sunken ground with a torn-down wall, mango trees, and malunggay at one end. The Lord blessed the Church with that parcel of land in Almandite St., which now houses the JOGSGO Main.

That was the time a new name was given to the church, from that point on, we were registered as JOGSGO, Jesus Our Good Shepherd Global Outreach, Inc.

The bush started burning and more workers found their way to the Altar at Horeb. Satellites were birthed, the first one in Angono, then in Antipolo, and in Lucena. The growth hit the heights of the graph, and we are glad!

Valleys of Eshcol produced for us harvest born upon shoulders. Indeed it was as promised, a land flowing with milk and honey. Neighbors started to think the members of the church are well off considering the long line of nice cars in the parking lot.

The road to global ministries opened, a higher level of faith, moving,  sending, going to missions in dollars, and we are glad!

The Lord has done great things for us and restored unto us fortunes like the rivers in the Negev.

Counting sunsets and sunrises, keeping the Appointed times of the Lord, we witnessed birthings and partings, wars and battles, every single milestone a brave act of men and women, young men and children who know how to bend the knees in humble submission and prayer.

In the beginning was the Word: The Shepherd’s staff across the nations!

6 He who goes out weeping,

carrying seed to sow,

will return with songs of joy,

carrying sheaves with him.

We are returning today with songs of joy!

Acknowledging that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel is our God!

He is the God of our present. The God of our future.

He is the One writing our story.

He is holding it all together!

Thank You po Lord!
